Research & writing time; Royal Hunt of the Sun: Day 2

Period 1:

Please work on your South and Central American Culture documentary projects/research or your writing/workshops this morning.

Your rubric:

A: You present your work in a creative way, perhaps even in an entertaining but informative manner. Your research clearly informs your work with significant and interesting details about your culture. Your presentation is polished, well-delivered, and you appear knowledgeable about your topic, going above the typical research of your peer group in thoroughness or creativity. You are able to answer questions posed by your classmates to enhance their learning. Overall, an excellent/exemplary job!
B: You present your work, allowing the digital or visual elements and speech you wrote to carry the meaning of your presentation. Your research is accurate and significant in teaching us about your researched culture. Some gaps in your research or speech weaken your presentation. You may be able to answer some/basic questions about your research posed by your classmates. Overall, good job!
C: You present your work, but you are mostly reading to us from notes you copied from internet sources. Your presentation does not have a visual component or it is clear that you don't understand or can communicate aspects of the culture you researched. Overall, an okay job.
F: If you do not present or complete your work, you will receive an F.

Period 2:

We will continue to read Royal Hunt of the Sun.

HOMEWORK: Continue reading 100 Years of Solitude. Aim to complete up to pg. 263. Look for evidence and examples of magical realism and keep track of characters (many of whom repeat themselves).

OPTION: Secret Santa's Writing Workshop! If you would like, place your name in the "box" and draw a name. Write that person a "personalized" short story, poem, play sketch, or article/essay/non-fiction, comic strip, etc. for the holidays! We'll deliver our "gifts" on Thursday, Dec. 19 before Winter Break! This is extra credit; if you don't want to participate, you don't have to. Don't put your name in the box and don't draw a name from the box!
