Alan Bennett is another very important contemporary writer. He has written film, plays, television, radio, and a variety of fiction. His films (and novels/plays/scripts) include:
Prick Up Your Ears (1987) about murdered playwright Joe Orton, The Madness of King George (1995), and The Wind in the Willows (1991). He is a gay contemporary writer.
