Obama is President Elect!

Please read the following news article:

"CHICAGO, Illinois - At 9:58 PM CST, Barack Obama unexpectedly took the state of Virginia. This turn of events put his total projected electoral votes to 284. This total was above the 270 needed to win the nomination, and so Barack Obama has been projected as the next President of the United States.

As of 11:40 PM, the total number of electoral votes were set at 338 Obama, 156 McCain.

Shortly after the winner was announced, Republican Presidential Nominee John McCain placed a call to congratulate Obama. He then gave a very gracious speech to a crowd of fellow Republicans in Phoenix.

In his speech, McCain again congratulated Obama to his followers, to which they responded with with boos and negative tones. McCain spoke graciously of the importance of the election and how history has been made today.

Barack Obama gave his speech to his audience less than an hour after McCain, where he thanked his family, running mate, and all those involved in the election. Obama praised McCain for McCain's service to his country and his strong leadership. In his speech, Obama reminded the nation that there are tough times ahead, but that he has full confidence that things will get better."

I believe that this is a historical time for our generation and that this will pave the way for more generations to come. Hopeful people will not see just a black president but a change.

Truthfully I am too happy with the election's end, however I proud of our country. It is great thing that this country has gotten past the majority of racism in the country. The historical significance is the best thing that came from this election. Truthfully the way we live and how things are is going to completly change. I was [i] suprised [i] Obama won Pennsylvania. I guess the people there did not hear about his "green energy" plan and how he is going to tax the coal mining business to the point of bankrupcy. There will be so many men out of a job and families on Unemployment. I'm not really sure how he is just going to raise taxs of one wealth bracket and decrease another considering how low our economy already is. Also the fact with his idea of getting rid of "dirty energy" will put a lot of people in the hole. I am very environmentally friendly and hate the idea of CO2 in our atmosphere slowing poisoning us all. However change takes time and Obama might move a little too fast.
It is not to say that McCain would have been any better. He was basically equilvant to Bush and this horrible war that we are in would never end. Excuse me, "conflict."
Anyways, so our culture today is going to completly change.

I believe that it is great that Obama won and that it changes history because he is the first black president ever and this gives other minorities hope that they would some day get as far as he did. I think that this moment would be marked in the history books for our children to look at. I'm glad that he won because he represented not only a change but history in the making and he knew that once he became president he had to do alot of work to fix our financial struggle and even in the speech after he won last night he stated that we had much work to do. I hope that he could bring us some more change not by his race but the things that he does to solve the dilema that is going on now in our government.

I think that Obama winning the presidential election had a major effect on the generations of the present and those to come. For the first time I feel like I was apart of history in the making; I feel as though I can achieve anything even if the odds are against me. Personally, I think that that is how all of America is feling right now as far as minorites. This election wasn't just about having our first black president being elected, but more so an inspiration to the people because we as minorities are no longer at the bottom of the bucket... we can get through and become major things. I think that Obama was very influential because he showed that everything is possible and that the black race and minorities can make because he has paved the way for many things to come after him.

Okie Dokie, I highly believe that my african american first black male president Obama, will do an outstanding job. However it will take time to get things like free medicare. Although history was made 11/04/08, living in American where our land is "Free", will still cost the citizens a great deed of intellgence, success, and hope.

History has been made! After 43 presidents we will have the first black male president as of January 20, 2009. I thought it was going to be a tight race, but to my surprise Obama won by a land slide! At this point I'm not certain how this will affect our culture, but I think its a positive step forward. Our country needed a change and the Democratic Party seemed to be the one that would deliver it. I am looking forward to the next four years that he will be in office, maybe more who knows.
The fact that he doesn't have much experience worries me a bit, but I have faith in him and his VP. He does have more experience than Palin, thats for sure!!
Congrats to Obama!

I feel that Obama is going to make a change. That's why people voted for him. He promises to help with the middle class. I can't really say much because i didn't really get into the politics. I am happy McCain didn't win becuase i would be worried if Palin was any where NEAR the white house. Obama is a symbol for change, and with Biden at his side that's exactly what America will get.

I believe that this election, out of any in the past, has had the greatest impact on the citizens of the United States. Not only have people been yearning for a change from our previous president but people have been yearning for a change in the way our country is governed.

I believe that Obama being elected as president is one of the greatest things in presidential history that has ever happened to the Unites States. We need change- I believe that Obama can do it.

Now more than any time in the past, both high school and college students are becoming more and more aware of the changes around us. More people are voting because they want to be heard. We're growing together as a nation and I believe that we now have a strong enough president who can lead us.

Obama winning the presidency is very historically significant and I believe that we'll see many great things for our country in our future.

Honestly I am just happy the election is over. Now that Obama is Prestident. I have several views on what is going to happen. I am going to state this Very Very CLEARLY. I AM NOT RACIST!!!! So who ever is reading this can either take or leave what I have to say.

Now here comes the controversal ideas.

Even before This election there was a type of "racism" Which I am going to call reverse racisum. Where instead of the caucasian people poking fun of colored people. It's the exact opposite.

I belive since Barack Obama is now president that this type of racism will get worse.

Secondly the other day I was listening to 94.1 the zone. The radio talk show hosts were talking about how they support McCain though he knows that Barack will win presidency. So he stated that he would like to see many changes. For example: gun violence. Usually when people look at gun violence we stereotypicly connect it to a colored male.

I personally belive that these stereotypical situations will increase.

As a whole I am concerened about what will happen next.

Since Barack Obama has been elected president of the United States, American culture and history is forever changed already. A racial barrier as well as an age barrier has been broken as one of the youngest and first black male has been elected.
Barack Obama's campaigning called him "the candidate of change," representing the difference he will be making in America, both in politics as well as the defining characteristics of our social culture.
Last night, voting turn outs reached an all-time high, participation in politics sky rocketed, and America watched the white house turn democratic and saw the first black man become elected as the 44th president of the United States.
Now, more than ever, it seems in America, the seemingly impossible is possible. Our country is moving further away from racial difference than ever before. We have reached a time in which the color of one's skin truly cannot determine the success of their character. Barack Obama determined last night, that America, indeed, was ready for change.
Obama's principles for his presidential plans are different than America has seen in years as well. with a strong focus on the middle class, education, financial turn-around, etc. are main features of Obama's campaign as well.
The election itself has determined that Obama has brought much change, and will bring monumental difference to the definition of America, both politically and socially.

Alot of people are excited because for the first time in history we have a presidential candidate elected to become president who is African American. I of course was proud and excited but then i realized that maybe were are voting for the wrong reasons. I truely like Obama because he has strong and healthy policy which i think this country been waiting for. Many people who were of color were afraid to vote for McCain because they felt as if they were breaking a code that all African Americans follow. I proud and truely proud to have Obama in office.

The biggest change the nomination and election of Obama has already demonstrated is the unprecedented number and diversity of people who have become involved in democracy. A larger amount of individual citizens, not lobbyists, contributed to his campaign, and a record number of people voted for the first time. A record number of people are also hoping to attend the inauguration. What’s fueling these people, is optimism, trust, and hope. The reason people feel this way is because the election of Obama to the highest office in government is proof that people formerly disenfranchised are now included in all levels of government. Now all people know that they can be included and have influence in government and society.
